Dan Murphy is CNBC’s Anchor and Correspondent based in the United Arab Emirates. He reports on global business, markets, economics and politics from the Middle East region.
Dan is host of CNBC's 'Capital Connection’, which connects Wall Street, Asia and Europe to the Middle East. His daily show is broadcast globally and features high level interviews with Presidents, Prime Ministers, Finance Ministers, Central Bank governors and executives from various sectors worldwide.
Dan's reporting offers a critical regional perspective on the deep pools of public and private capital moving in the Gulf and wider region at a time of transformation, opportunity and change.
Dan has anchored breaking news and special shows from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. He's reported on pivotal elections inside Turkey and Israel, interviewed high level officials in Egypt and Russia and covered energy and climate change issues on the ground in Europe and the Caucasus.
In 2023, Dan was awarded the GI International Energy Journalism Award for his coverage of global energy markets and geo-economics. He regularly speaks to senior Ministers and OPEC+ officials at OPEC HQ in Vienna and was recently recognized as an Energy Journalism Fellow at Columbia University's Global Energy Policy Institute in New York.
Dan reports from World Economic Forum events in Davos, Riyadh and Dubai. He is also a highly sought after panel moderator, having conducted more than 100 high-level discussions across a range of topics including finance, banking, energy, technology, aviation and women in leadership in the Arab world.
In 2024, Dan was selected as one of thirty-six ‘Young Global Leaders’ by the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C and joined the Millennium Fellowship, which recognizes emerging global leaders in international affairs.
Dan began his career with CNBC in Singapore in 2015, before helping to launch CNBC’s bureaus in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 2018. He previously reported for Sky News in Australia.
