Jubril Adewale Tinubu is the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, one of sub-Saharan Africa’s leading integrated energy solutions providers.

In 1993, Mr. Tinubu co-founded Ocean & Oil Group, guiding its evolution from an oil trading company to a major player in the oil and gas industry. Under his leadership, Oando PLC acquired Unipetrol PLC and Agip Nig PLC, expanding significantly in the downstream sector. This growth has positioned Oando as a market leader in gas distribution and petroleum marketing in Nigeria. 

Mr. Tinubu has extensive leadership in the upstream sector. He oversaw Oando’s acquisitions of ConocoPhillips’ Nigerian assets in 2014 and, more recently, Eni’s Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited (NAOC) in August 2024, two transactions that catapulted the Company’s 2P proven Reserves from 15Mmboe to over 1 billion boe. 

In 2021, Mr. Tinubu launched Oando Clean Energy Limited, focusing on delivering sustainable energy solutions. 

Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. Tinubu has improved access to quality education for thousands of Nigerian students, enhancing public schools and fostering educational development nationwide through the work of the Oando Foundation. 

Recognized for his contributions to Nigeria's energy sector and philanthropy, Mr. Tinubu has received numerous honors, including the prestigious Commander of the Order of the Niger. His leadership continues to influence the energy landscape, advancing innovations and sustainability initiatives. 

A graduate of the University of Liverpool and the London School of Economics, Mr. Tinubu has earned degrees in law and enjoyed a successful legal career before transitioning to energy sector leadership.
